Buen Provecho!

It's been far too long since I've put together any kind of video, but then Tami had a great idea to make up a kind of cooking show. It was a fun chance to mix a few of our hobbies and give me some extra practice shooting and editing video.

We are also working on writing a song and creating a music video, so look forward to that in the near (or not so near...we'll see) future!

Portrait Photography

I've recently been given a couple opportunities to practice a bit of portraiture. One of Tami's old roommates from college and her husband recently had a new baby girl. They asked if I could take some baby photos for them, which I was happy to do.

Another couple that we go to church with caught wind of my photography hobby and asked if we could take some pictures for them to commemorate their baby-on-the-way.

I love being taking pictures and touching them up in Photoshop. I just hope that people aren't mislead into thinking that I am some great photographer when they ask me to take photos for them. I'm still learning a lot.

I decided that I ought to have some sort of watermark for my photos and this was the best I could come up with. If I ever get more serious about my photography I may have to give it a little more thought.

Raya (or How Tami Convinced Eric to Get a Cat)

For nearly as long as we have been married, Tami and I have been interested in getting a pet. We talk about it from time to time. "Wouldn't it be nice to get a dog someday?" or "When we are more settled/move to a house we should have pets." This week we visited some friends, Joe and Ashlee York, for Joe's birthday party and we met a certain gray tabby kitten that belonged to Ashlee's sister.

Tami and I thought it was cute and did our best to cuddle it and protect it from the mauling children at the party. Tami coaxed, "Isn't she cute? Wouldn't you want a kitty?" I replied that it was cute, and that it might be nice to have a kitten someday. The following day Ashlee called Tami and told her that her sister was thinking about giving the kitten away and wanted to let us know since Tami seemed to take such a liking to it.

What did I think of this idea? I was not too sure, especially since it would mean extra expenses at a time when we are struggling for jobs. I did not flat out say no, but I told her I didn't think it was the best idea right now. The next day Tami received a phone call with some very good news--she was offered a full time job with a school in Caldwell! We were ecstatic! I suppose it was in part because of this happiness and in part because we were going to have extra income secured that I broke down and let Tami bring the cat home. We are now the proud owners of a 3 month old kitten which we have named Raya (RYE-uh) from the Spanish word for "stripe." She is a cute little thing and she brings some new excitement to our home.

Go D-Backs!

A few weeks ago Tami and I attended her cousin's wedding in Mesa, Arizona. While there we attended an Arizona Diamondbacks game. This short montage features a bit of the action (including my enthusiastic sports-fan nephews!) The music, by Linkin Park, played frequently at the game and so I chose to use it as the soundtrack for this video.

Fourth of July

This year Tami and I attended the fireworks show in Melba, Idaho. We were told that they were the best fireworks in the area and we were not disappointed! I had the special opportunity to utilize my Canon t2i.

Before the show began we were greeted by many tiny grasshoppers, like these.

Slow shutter night shots are often difficult to master (and I am far from a master) but this fireworks show lent itself perfectly for practice. Check out these shots:

Not only does the t2i take great pictures, but its video capabilities are breathtaking.

I can hardly wait until next Fourth of July!

Wedding Video

Tami and I wanted to do something special for our parents and grandparents this Christmas so we decided to put together a DVD of our wedding to send them. We collected video and photographs taken by our friends and family and compiled it together into several segments documenting the various activities surrounding our special day. The DVD was well received!

After all the time and hard work that went into putting the videos together, I thought I would post them on YouTube and put them up here as well.

Our Barbecue

This barbecue took place the evening prior to the wedding at the Jewett residence in Highland, UT. It was a fun, casual gathering of friends and family. I was unable to upload this video to YouTube due to copyright issues with the music, but finally managed to get it here on Blogger.

The Temple

We were sealed in the Mt. Timpanogos Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in American Fork, UT. It was a very special day that I will always cherish fondly.

The Luncheon

Following the sealing, we returned to Tami's parents for the wedding luncheon where wedding attendees and other friends and family gathered to celebrate with us.

Our Song

Rather than dancing to our song, we decided to perform it for our guests at the luncheon. The song is "Two Is Better Than One" by Boys Like Girls.

The Reception

Following our honeymoon in Joseph, Oregon, we made our way to my hometown of Zillah, Washington where we held a reception.

Bridals

Our brother-in-law, Joshua Spray, took many dazzling photos of my beautiful bride at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Isn't she pretty!

Growing Up

This video originally started as a project by my brother, Glen, for our various receptions, but unfortunately he was not able to finish it prior to leaving for his church mission in Colorado, so Tami and I decided we would take what he started and finish it for our DVD. It chronicles our lives growing up and finally growing together.

And there you have it! After many hours, a few software crashes, some inexplicable exporting problems, etc. I was able to produce the completed project. Despite some of the setbacks and frustrations, I ended up having a lot of fun putting this whole thing together. Tami and I are happy to have these segments to watch and reminisce for the years to come.
